“Jeremy Francis, CEO of Rhema Group talks us through one of the variants of S.M.A.R.T. He uses Relevant rather than Realistic; he uses Achievable, rather than Attainable or Actionable, and he uses Timely rather than Time-bound. Whichever version one finds, these variants of S.M.A.R.T. are still very much in use after many years, so, in all its forms, seems to be valuable. These days, we often add I=inspirational. We do this because workers are now less motivated by the desire of their managers than previously. Now, many people want to feel their own desire to achieve. This could be included with ‘relevant’ but rarely is! So, including ‘Inspirational’ requires both the individual, and their manager, to seek out aspects of the goal-journey that are desirable to the individual.” @draimcleod
