Managing in Recession: a time for motivation and productivity

How many business-leaders are thinking about motivation and productivity during recession? Answer: not many!

Business leaders tend to focus on overhead reduction (cutting jobs, overtime, under-performing plant) and for the rest of the time, keep their heads down, often ignoring staff needs for communication and support.

In times of change, people perform better if we take care of their ‘security’ needs (a job, an income, a future).
