Coaching & Mentoring – Integration Skills for Managers
This course is designed for managers who have already received a minumim of two days of training in coaching, mentoring or facilitation skills training and wish to apply their learning appropriately in all managing situations. Delegates will be able to ensure that they do not demotivate staff by over- or under-managing.
This course outlines and provides a rationale for best practice in the (fluid) use of both coaching and mentoring during individual sessions with staff. While coaching provides lasting and practical development of people, mentoring can sometimes provide faster individual solutions for those managers under pressure. A mix of skills can therefore be vital when intelligently used. For the underpinning principles of this course, please see the paper, ‘Coaching & Mentoring in Organisations’ by Angus McLeod (Resource Magazine, 1, 1, 28-31, 2004 or the book, ‘Self-coaching Leadership, also by Angus McLeod.
